Topic: Lefties Rule?

I am right handed in everything I do and am right eye dominate. When I first started to paddle OC it was mostly tandem and as I became more experienced and had new bow partners who tended to prefer being righty, I found myself becoming a lefty. I think I may have become a solo lefty anyway because o...

I would agree with everyones suggestions so far... especcially Bob S. I own a Defiant and have paddled the Ignitor, the Rumba and the Spark (for most all of my solo runs at the last 2 nationals). I really like my Defiant but tend to do most of my fun paddling in an Ocoee. When I get another boat (an...

Bob, I think your idea of an event in Colorado is excellent. I remember the downriver race on Clear Creek in '99 was 4 miles of pretty continuous whitewater. It would be a wild ride in June! I was having a very bad week and was in a foul mood when I posted my first reply to you. I was harsh in my co...

Soon after my last post I had some regrets that my comments may have sounded a bit testy. Sorry about that... I picked on Bob's results because HE was the one who had an issue regarding the lack of challenging courses. That was out of line on my part but I was trying to make the point that running g...

Hey Bob, I respect your opinion and but just like 2 years ago when we had this discussion, I could not disagree with you more. You implied that boaters with less than class IV skills should not come to Nationals so we could have it on more challenging water. That way it could be a bigger show attrac...

I rarely post, except on this subject.... You had it right 10 years ago! I am your height and almost your weiight and think the Ocoee is the boat of choice for a big guy. Paddle everything you can before you buy but it is still (IMO) the best designed WW canoe. I would second everything that the oth...

Hey Isaac, You might try contacting League of the Northwest Whitewater racer's website for info on new and used boats. We should try to hit some of the Northwest Cup races next Spring. There may be still one or two in the schedule this fall but I am not sure. I assume you are in Bozeman but wondered...

Once again I will join the Kaz/kevlar cheering section. Great boats! When I paddle my Defiant and hit something very hard, I still think 'well that had to have done some damage'. I will pull over to look and usually can't even figure out where I hit. When I first researched buying a Millbrook, Bob P...

Dagger canoe

Hi Tara, I will try to help you find one... A friend in NH had one for sale awhile back. I will check into that. There is one in Helena but not sure I can talk those folks out of theirs. Any reason you are so set on a Dimension? I am very familiar with most everything out there and would be happy to...

OC-1

I am 6' 3" and 195 lbs. and don't think I am too big for the Ocoee (I have two... my favorite boat) or any of the others mentioned except for the Zoom. Hoping for a Zoom X in the future as I really liked the boat when I paddled it but is a bit small. Don't underestimate the durability of the kevlar ...

I do not like the Prodigy much and would lean towards the Outrage between the two. I am just under 200 pounds and would not even consider the X in either boat. That is too much boat for anyone under 230 unless it is just for self support trips. I paddle an Ocoee and one of the people who helped me t...

I paddled the Spark at last years nationals and really liked it. It is fast and turns almost as well as my Ocoee. The royalite with wood gunnels makes for a very light plastic boat. I own one of Kaz's Defiants and I think the Spark was lighter. I believe my Defiant IS a cruising layup, though. Also ...
