Re: Questions about New Zealand
Hi, I am in NZ at the moment. All is good over here, and the boating here is not just the higher grades. Today I boated our usual G3 section on the Mohaka, about 20km starting at G2 and building up to some pleasant G3. There is a 2-3 day G2 section up in the headwaters, and a G4 daytrip further down...

WTB; C1 downriver race boat
I am after a C1 WWR/Downriver race boat.
Ideally one of the more stable designs (Mezzana?).
I am in Ottawa, but can come collect at Gauleyfest.
I can be contacted at info@shaggydesigns.com
Thanks
Gwyn

Thanks for the tip PAC, tupperware is packed!
I am heading out early tomorrow (Friday), and trying to make Teeters campground by nightfall.
If I can find it that is - never been there before.
I am up for anything going - Cheat/UY/Sandy etc on Sat/Sun/Mon...

Re: Officially converting to C-1
I have a converted Mystic, which is great for the steeper rocky runs.
Wide enough to be stable, and the back of the cockpit is high enough to comfortably get your feet under and have room for hip pads and seat etc.
I have (hopefully) attached a picture of it in use.

Definitely coming down from Ontario for this.
I am open to sharing transport with anyone up here or on the way.
Have never been to the Cheat before, and I am looking forward to it.

Re: Bliss-Stick Tuna
Haven't seen a conversion, but I have paddled with several kayakers that have them. Observations are; 1. It is a big boat! 2. Fast! 3. It suits an aggressive style. If you don't have any speed, the tail sometimes gets pushed and you end up backwards in boily water. I suppose this is true for many cr...

Re: ROTY Carnage Entry
Eeek! That is a horrible place to be. I was on a trip that a similar thing happened - same drop, similar water levels, same line etc. The paddler came out within a couple of seconds, but the boat was gone - for 20 minutes before it flushed out. We were all ready to leave him with a sleeping bag and ...

Re: Best International Paddling Destination?
Yes - lots to do in NZ. Have a look at; http://rivers.org.nz/nz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a peek at what is available. There is something for everyone. Last trip I did was the Motu - 3 days of grade 3 with few grade 4 rapids. 100km on the river, no portages, bridges, cottage...

Looking for a ride to the Armada
There must be SOMEONE going to the Cheat armada from the (very un-frozen) north! I am in Ottawa, trying to get down there, preferably with a boat or two. Renting a car and driving down on my own is just a little too expensive, but would do with one or two more to share the cost between. I can offer ...

Fluid Solo C1 (SOLD), drysuit, splashpants
I have some gear to sell - all based in Ottawa. Buyer collects, or I will hopefully be at the Armada. Red fluid solo -SOLD (small size) C1. A great creekboat conversion - it is too small for me though! Used maybe 10 times - no folds or dents. Not including straps or airbags, but the rest of the outf...

Anyone coming to the Armada from Ontario??
I am trying my level best to be at the Armada this year.
Obviously I don't really want to have to hire a car and drive all the way from Canada on my own, so would be interested in sharing transport with anyone coming from the (Far) North.
I have lots of boats that I could bring and share!
Thanks

Re: Slalom racing
Maybe CanoeKayak Canada could help? They certainly have a list of clubs out west; http://canoekayak.ca/english/content/ww_club_pacific" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It probably wouldn't do any harm to try contacting some of the clubs that do slalom - they might have resources to sha...

Re: Older fast boats! Pics!!!
Sorry to slightly hijack the thread, but I want to talk about carbon/aramid hybrid fabrics! The picture on the sweet website of their hybrid fabric looks like the 'standard' type of north American hybrid material, a 2x2 twill with alternating carbon and aramid in both warp and weft. The 'dogbone' pa...

Re: the Sith
Hi Nam, I do like hip pads in my Sith, but it does make the boat a lot more troublesome to put onto a roofrack with other boats. The solution that we have come up with that seems to work OK is the composite pieces like in Mike's picture. It looks like my seat is lower than Mike has his, so I have cu...
