Agree that the boat does not have "Gemini" lines -- Gemini's had lots of wildwater genes and that doesn't show here (my first C-2 was a Gemini from '78 -- prob a III). What strikes me as odd is the cockpit spacing: definitely a C-2 with center ...

I don't know about it being a Gemini. The deck looks like it has a centerline peak. I built and paddled a Gemini III as my first C-2, also paddled a Gemini V, and saw examples of most of the rest of the series at one time or another; I don't ...

Looks like a Gemini with a center hole cut to me... not sure which one though (there were several (5?) variations over the years I'm aware of).

RE: Grumman advt

... which was a Berrigan fitted with a "deck" with a huge single opening that actually satisfied the requirements for open canoe competition. When the Gemini appeared and I got a chance to try one, I came home & announced "Sell everything -- we have to have THIS!" and never looked back.

MRC ME

I sent you a PM. Might be good to mention whether it is Royalex or composite (MRC made both). I am assuming composite.

Are the kneeling thwarts mounted so as to place the paddling stations close together centrally (aka Gemini positioning) or farther apart.

big drop

I think Gt Falls was done years ago in C-2 -- maybe Gemini. Can't recall who it was, one of the DC C-2 pairs -- maybe Flack & Gutschick??

My partner wanted to borrow a Hydra & run it, but we never got it together.

... and very, very nice. I really like my Tomahawk, and I know the Patriot is another really nice boat. If you're frugal, look for an older design (Gemini) . You can likely get that for free! If you just want to get down tandem, look for a Hydra Duet. It's a pig, but some folks like 'em. Plastic ...

Re: Clearly before 1980

... more definitive answer, but I can confirm a good deal of what Roy posted. Foam bulkheads do indeed pre-date 1980. I personally installed one in a Gemini III C-2 in the winter of 1978-1979 using materials purchased from John Sweet (Sweet Composites). Minicell was not as readily available at that ...

... My 11 yo daughter still likes to go in "the pig" just to hear the boof sound it makes over little drops! I have 2 of them, in addition to a Gemini, and use them for boy scouts. Not too hard to carry if there is another adult around but can be done solo as well. The plastic is pretty durable ...

Batmax? & Gemini

... but could use a little outfitting update. Fiberglass, very light and could be a great slalom boat for the right person. Asking $250 I also have a Gemini C2 that is in good shape and might only need a little work on one of the cockpit combings. Very cool boat with offset cockpits, but could benefit ...
