Re: How much of you teach canoeing
I have been teaching openboat tech for 3 years prior to coaching canoe/kayak slalom athletes for 4 years. there is a huge depth of knowledge in this forum. as stated though the NOC does offer some stuff. But depending on where you are, try to contact wayne dickert. Great guy, and one of the better i...

Re: Whitewater Slalom Olympic Team Trials (anyone going)
The staff at usnwc are also all pretty ancy to leave the days of trials... makes for a great environment if your'e a USACK photog trying to grab a loop on the wilderness channel. what a freaking mess... Enjoy the spectating. The best spot to view is on the hill at the bottom corner. and while your'e...

Re: good goPro canoeing videos
Martikans site has been revamped, and he now has some training videos-of the gopro format. you'll have to sift through the gratuitous narcissistic shots... but everyone can learn something from these videos... makes me want to hop back in a boat, and play around with a gate. Re: C-California 2012 - SoFo Armada
what about making something in conjunction with the kern river fest, and having it down there? There's the race course in town, as well as the miracle hot spring area, and brush creek could be running. I know truckee has more to do, but lake isabella is 10 hours away versus 16 for me. any takers? PS...

huh, where did you cut from? but as far as the newer slalom designs go, the makao had pretty pronounced rails. can you take a pic of them together? I'm more just curious to see. I still think that any moving/whitewater, and the result would have been reversed. and your'e correct, I meant whose. as i...

Bob- on flatwater I don't doubt for one second that an old regs boat won that test. The newer shorter boats won't ever be as fast, the water line is so much shorter, and has to be so much more blunt as a result of the lost width. if you did a ww test, I think you'd see the differences... Even someth...

I'll try to make it up for this, but with my wedding 2 weeks later, It may be a far stretch... Golden is fun, The Poudre is a great OC run, there is an awesome larger rapid with a couple of combined drops that make for playful challenges, and interesting ferries with a sweet rock boof on the bottom ...

icyone- C-2 is nearly dead-yes, because of the difficulty to train with someone like that for a long period of time. try it, it's not the sports fault, we all end up fighting. and actually we have our best C2 in a long time at the moment. Tad Dennis was 15th last year at Brats, and Benn was up in th...

Bells boats work well for large guys, I have paddled all of them. and I race a supremo. When I was training all the time I was at 190+-5. now Im at 205 and I'd still choose the supremo over the gala designs. Racing=vajda. river running=gala. My saddle is roughly 2 inches, and I'm 6'3"ish. don't list...

yes bring a boat. I grew up in Missoula, you can run a bunch in August, The Gorge will be perfect in August for an OC, and there's always the wave downtown. you can even run some small stuff on the blackfoot. there are a few folks in C1's, Brandon Salayi paddles some, Ben Schmidt used to own a canoe...

[quote="FullGnarlzOC"][quote="philcanoe"] You asked: What's more important to you - stability or responsiveness? The stability of a boat is way overrated, because the paddler makes his boat so... otherwise he's made a :o bad purchase. As for long boats - there was some mightily unstable ones. Being ...
