Never thought of a c-1 slalom boat as a play boat.

Looks like a model just before the Fanatic.

Come now, we all know you're old enough to remember the days when folks had *one* boat for taking, creeking, and playing ;-)

I think it looks like a Noah boat - Jape? or might be a Max II

I was actually wondering if it was a Jape - with the machines glassed in (what it looks like) might be one of Jim Underwood's old boats. Of course, I'm not clear on how many he's sold either... he has a nice historic collection himself...

Ok, Ok, so I've e-mailed him. He's 15 minutes away so if its actually a production recreational C1 I'll be interested.

I still think it is a slalom design though...

The lines aren't right for it to be a Max II. I vote for a Noah.

Maybe a Noah, but don't think it is a Jape -

I took those pictures of one I saw in NC - pretty sure the ID is correct, can't swear to it, though.

Current owner's impression is that it is the "Little Gem" in that it is the front and back halves of the Gemini C2 with the middle cut out.

Looks that way too, actually.

Not sure if it was a one-off or not - might be low production (cut the boat down, pull a crude mold, make a few boats...).

Yep, if you look at the side view photo in the Craig's List post, you can see the slight rise in depth just ahead of the cockpit and the more marked drop in depth just behind it. Those elements are certainly consistent with Adam's description of a Gemini with the middle cut out.

I do believe it is a cut down Gemini - the next question is... by whom, and how many were made? I'm thinking backyard job (not putting that down!) with a mold pulled off the plug to pop out a few boats. BUT, it could have been a production boat (having seen one or two Apple Line molds it would not surprise me... but I know of no Apple Line catalogs...)
