The Whitesell for sale in Minnesota is a Piranha; I already own and paddle a Piranha.

I am seeking the shorter, lighter weight Whitesell Descender.

What a sweet-looking Piranha!

The Piranha was found a little over a year ago while I was searching for a Descender; which I still have NOT found. The Piranha had been in dry storage, protected from sunlight & weather, for "many, many" years.
The first owner had used it twice before putting it into storage!

After I spent about 5 hours cleaning out/off wasp nests, dirt daubers nests, spider webs & egg sacks, ants, mice nests, bird droppings and acorns.......I had essentially a new Whitesell. The original Whitesell lace kit & air bags were ruined by mice chewing on them; probably for nesting material. The only thing that was needed besides cleaning was to replace the air bags & lace kit.

I do use it, but I make an effort to take care of it to the best of my ability. Am proud to own it, after lusting for a Whitesell canoe from the time I first saw one, in the window of the shop alongside the Nantahala, in the late 80s. Money for new canoes was non- existent for me back then.

I am "still" actively seeking a Descender, and am ready & willing to pay a good price for the right one.

There was one on the Monocacy club board a couple of days ago. Don't know anything specific about the boat.

That was the one I saw. I've paddled with the guy once before, and was going tO see if he still had it, as he had said he was going to sell it. I didn't know he had listed it, however.

Sounds as if there is some local interest in the boat, but I will still make an effort to contact the boat's owner today to "check it out".
Even if boat has been sold; he might be able to offer another lead.

Piranha? Descender? Whirlwind?

I heard a few years ago that the unfinished Whitesells at the Nantahala are available. Might be worth a try if you really need a Descender.

Looks like a Piranha to me; not a Descender.
Have made attempt to contact seller for clarification.

Descender would be a little shorter & lighter; that's what I need.
Have never ever seen a Whitesell Whirlwind..........

The Whirlwind was designed by Dave Sherrill and produced by Nolan Whitesell. It paddles a bit different than either the Piranha or the Descender which are both Nolan's designs.
