AMP

Post by Mike W. »

Perception AMP. Outfitted with the Perception saddle. Padded thigh-straps with cam buckles. Voyager skirt. I'll throw in the kayak outfitting too. The drain plug is a little aggravating, but if that's a big deal to you I'll replace it. The boat is red & yellow. Good condition.
It's in Roanoke Rapids, NC. I can deliver it to the Armada. $300.

I'll be going to Spring Splash at the NOC on April 2. I'll be in the area Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I can deliver the Amp there if anyone is interested.

The threads on the drain plug are a little messed up. It makes it hard, but not impossible to get the plug in or out of the boat. I'll go ahead replace it if you want the boat. I'm not going to let $5 get in the way of creating a vacuum in my fleet :)

How big are you? Does the boat have any hull speed?

wave surfing

Post by aargh »

The reason I was asking about hull speed is that I was thinking of picking up a boat primarily for ocean wave surfing. None of my other boats really works that well for that application (or is it "operator error"?)

Thanks

I'm 190-195lbs, a little on the heavy side for this boat. The amp is not a race boat, but at nearly 8' long it is noticably faster than my Big EZ. It has less rocker & slicier ends than the big ez. I haven't tried it in the ocean, but my guess is that it wouldn't be bad for that.

interested

Post by aargh »

well, I'm pretty interested. Skirt and drain plug included, you say? Are you going to be going to any event that others on this forum might be attending (as in, can I find a ride for the boat?)

At this point my going to NOC seems unlikely.

But my experience getting boats rides through this online community is pretty good.

I'm in Blacksburg, VA by the way.

Yeah, boat, skirt, new drain plug, C-1 & kayak outfitting. The boat is currently set up as C-1. If you want it as a kayak I can convert it back.

Here is a list of the paddling trips that I have planned:
4/2 Spring Splash (Bryson City, NC)
4/23 Neuse River Rally (Raleigh, NC)
4/30 Nelson County Race (VA)
5/13-15 C-Boats Armada (N. Branch Potomac)
6/18 Neuse River days (New Bern, NC)
7/5-10 Week of Rivers (Bryson City, NC) tentative
7/30 Kibler Valley (Claudeville, VA)
9/23-25 Gauley Fest (WV)
10/1 Lumber River Challenge (Lumberton, NC)

Let me know if you plan to be at any of these events & I'll bring the boat.

Aargh! I am planning on hitting the Armada and can visit some friends in Radford on the way home... Didn't we do this a couple of years ago? After I bought that Hornet of yours?

Aargh! We sure did, Scott, and I thank you again. That could work. Maybe we could coax Mike out onto the river; haven't seen him in or with a boat in years.

Another transport option...

I'll be at the tail end of the Spring Splash at NOC, then there through their canoe week.

I'll pass through Radford sometime on 4/8, racing back to Boston to mix FOH for a folk festival.

Let me know if that'll help.

Thanks, David. That would be great. Let's see, April 8 is a Friday, I have classes at 12 and 2 and then usually try to head down to the river on the way home.

We should be able to work something out. Radford University where I work is about 6 minutes off the interstate. If you'll be coming through later than, say, 4, we'll have to go to plan B of where to meet.

Now I have to work it out with Mike. Mike, let me know what the best way to arrange payment and handoff is. You probably should just email me directly at rroth@radford.edu

Thanks again.
