The boat was built at the NOC in 1975. I do not know what model it is. It's in poor, but floatable condition. NOT suitable for class III holes. It would make a tolerable flatwater cruiser or practice platform for glass work. Fast & tippy. Ugly. Small cockpit opening. It's in Roanoke Rapids, NC. I can deliver to the Neuse River Rally, Nelson Co. race or the Armada.

The intro to wildwater C-1 was a great experience That boat is soooo fast! It's nearly as fast as a j-boat & you can roll when you flip...and you will flip
I actually paddled the boat 3 times. The 1st time I had duct taped the big holes & cracks & duct taped outfitting into it. The river was high so all of the rapids were washed out & I just paddled around on flatwater.
The 2nd trip, after much glass work & outfitting the water was still high. I put in at Weldon & paddled up around the 1st island. The boat has great glide, but watch it when attaining. If (when) the bow catches opposing current (coming out of an eddy) it really messes up your angle. Peel outs from eddies towards downstream are better than I expected, but this is not good for trying to attain rapids.
Now for the carnage that you crave...3rd trip: Flow was increasing from 3,000cfs to 9,000cfs. We have rapids I carry up, above the rapids & put in. Flip over trying to get in the boat (did I mention it was tippy?). I crawl out, dump the boat & get back in. Paddle upstream a little ways so I can get it turned around above the drop. OK, now I'm pointing downstream all is good I'm lined up & hauling glass toward the dumpster (ironic that the rapid that destroyed the boat is name 'the dumpster' ). I punch the hole About the time that my body gets to the peak of the foam pile the boat stops One good forward stroke with my new all carbon Mitchell pulls me through Just as the wave-train is easing up I noticed that my right big toe hurts I wiggle around & get it unstuck from between the stern wall & the hull. My toe feels much better now Then, I notice a split in the deck I paddle over to the beach to investigate. I find 3 splits & 2 cracks in the deck I thought about loading up & going home for beer. But I decided that the total, combined length of the splits being less than 3 feet I could paddle some more. So I carry up & run the middle, which at that level breaks it down into 2 drops. 1st run I flip & roll. Paddle back to the beach. No new holes. Carry back up & run the middle again. Clean run this time. I wanted to jump on one of the waves to try to surf, but figured if it pearled I'd loose the bow. So I head back to the ramp. When washing the sand off the boat I notice the shadow of the boat looks strange. The hull was messed up too I take my busted boat home.
Now with the boat on saw-horses I can better see the damage. 3 splits & 2 cracks on the deck 13 cracks on the hull Everywhere I patched was still good FYI all of this damage was done without hitting a single rock!
I may patch it & use it for the Neuse River Rally. There are no rapids that can't be run with a comp cruiser so this boat will be safe for that. If you want it you can have it. If nobody wants it I'll cut it to size for the dumpster (the metal one made for trash, not the rapid).
