WTB: WW Canoe

Post by pb29 »

I run the outdoor program at UNC-Asheville and have been paddling/running white water training's with my students on some local class I-III rivers in a 15' Mad River Explorer OC1 for the last two years. I need/want to be on the river more and am thinking of upgrading to a more WW worthy vessel to better keep up with my kayaking students. I am open to suggestions on what would be the best OC-1 for my needs (I have more of a rock and trail background) and if anyone has something out there that would fit my needs at a reasonable cost (I don't have a lot of money to spend). I am 6'2" and 240lbs.

I live in Asheville, however, would be willing do drive a 2-4 hours for the right boat.

Any help would be appreciated and I'd be happy to trade if that would be of interest? I'm an AMGA single pitch instructor and competitive mtn biker (just a thought!)

Thanks for the help!

I've been doing the canoe search for the last couple of weeks (tandem canoe). Here is what I have been using:

This site (ofcourse)

http://boatertalk.com/gear/gear.php

http://www.paddleswap.com/

http://www.searchtempest.com/ - a Craigslist aggregator

Ebay even has some decent finds from time to time.

There's a pretty good selection available on those sites for WW boats
