Wanted: composite bucket seats

Post by Sir Adam »

The "bucket" composite seats in my old sawyer Champ II are in need of replacement, and though I can make a mold and pull a few before I do that I thought I'd see if anyone has any kicking around they are willing to sell. Sawyer, Wenonah, doesn't matter, as long as it is a composite bucket seat. I just missed out on 2 on eBay (auction just ended!) for $55 NOS. If you know of a source, or have some yourself, please let me know! Post here, PM, etc... Thanks!
Keep the C!

I had John @ Savage River Canoes make one for my downriver boat several years ago. His web-site shows them at $105 or $60 w/o frame. I assume you don't need the frame. You'll need to specify the distance between your rails so it'll slide smoothly. Also specify the racing (small) seat, or the recreational (comfy, wide) seat. The wide seat will not fit my comp cruiser due to the lack of gunwale width. It's fine in my downriver solo boat.

I think I can find the VERY crude mold that I pulled off one of the seats in my cruiser. It's the small Wenonah seat. I'll probably never use it & you're welcome to borrow it if you want. Warning: this is the only attempt I've ever made at pulling a mold. I did not spray anything. If I remember correctly, I just waxed the seat & layed glass on it.

The Clinton is coming up this month. I don't think that's very far from you. There are usually venders there, as well as used boats & parts for sale by individuals.

If you're going to make seats, don't pull a mold, unless the seat you have fits perfectly. Use the wet sand in a box method to get a seat that fits you exactly. 8)
