Seattle Area Paddling

There is a chance I may be able to score a day or two on a Seattle area river when I go out there later this year. I am looking at III-IV (East Coast scale  ) I would need to limit driving distance to less than two hours from the city. Any ideas?

I would need feedback on gauges to watch, too.

Thanks.

There's a very active club in Seattle -- Paddle Trails Canoe Club. Google them, and get in touch.

PTTC would be the good-to people. Some runs to consider would be on the Skykomish, or I highly recommend the Middle Middle run on the Snoqualmie - solid, steady, beautiful class III or III+ ish.

Have fun, Pat.

Jay,

Definitely get in touch with Paddle Trails, Dave is good people. I boated with them last summer on the Blackfly tour, and had a blast. Skykomish is 90 minutes ish from Seattle, depending on where you're coming from, and at the level I did it, it was somewhere in between Cheat Canyon and Lower Yough difficulty. Incredibly beautiful.

I'll leave it to your judgement whether or not you'll cop to knowing me
