Hornet Reviews?

Post by atcq »

Looking specifically for a creeker/big-water boat and the Millbrook Hornet keeps coming up. Any one have thoughts or experiences to share about the design when its been used in that context? For what its worth I'm around 165lbs and I'm used to (even prefer) narrower boats.

Keeping an open mind so any other suggestions for a creeker/big-water boat (can be OC1) are also appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Ever paddle a Cascade? It's a lot like that, but a lot better - especially faster and lighter. it worked for 200+# me, should work even better for a lighter person.

Never got a chance to try a Cascade. My experience is almost all OC1 but I've been paddling for awhile, and I'm used to low pedestals thanks to my Reaktor, so I thought I'd look into a C1 for big water and creeking

It's been a very long time since I tried a Hornet & it was only for a few minutes. If I remember correctly, Bob narrowed & shortened a Cascade to create the Hornet for his Grand Canyon trip. MUCH lighter & more responsive than the Cascade.

atcq... (and anyone else)... if you are interested all are welcome to swing by and test out the "collection", which does include a Hornet... as well as Cascade, and just about every recreationally designed C1 (only 3 race boats, in other words). I'm in the Lake George / Saratoga area of upstate NY....

A number of folks have taken me up on this in the past, and I know of several folks that used it to help determine what to purchase next.
Keep the C!
