Fall Line Canoes: Is there an online pricing schedule for your bags? I've looked, but unsuccessfully. I found your FB page, but no size/price specifics...

This is what I do:

- Inflate bag
- Visually inspect bag for any obvious tears and holes
- Fill a spray bottle with a little bit of dish soap and water. Spray the whole bag. Bubbles will form where there are leaks. Don't worry it is obvious where a leak is.
- Mark the leaks with a sharpie
- Dry area and aqua seal

This shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

I have a different hypothesis, that driving around with the bags flopping in the airstream causes leaks by repeatedly rumpling the fabric.

If you keep your bags taut, you probably will have very few leaks. Just don't do like I did once, letting bags get so taut that they distort the hull.

Inner "bladder" is a nylon/urethane make up fitted with a urethane fill tube with micro valve, and a Halkey-Roberts SV690 low profile inflate/deflate valve.

I've been working on a genetically engineered fungus that lives inside airbags and secretes a urethane coating on the inside of the bags to seal any holes as they form.

So far, I haven't had much success with it. I can't find a thin enough grinding disk to cut up the DNA properly.

I used the soapy water inside the airbag and it worked well to show that the bag's life is ending.

It did take a bit to get the soapy water out.

Another great method for the detection of tiny holes is to blow up the bag good and lick the surface of the bag! You will feel even the slightest air bubbles on your tongue immediately. Of course, try to find the general area of holes before licking, or you could run dry. I keep a glass of water handy. It's a combination of the saliva making bubbles and the many nerves on your tongue that detects even tiny leaks.

Or better yet, coat the entire bag with bacon grease and have your dog lick it off. But first train the animal to bark when it feels a leak. The six pounds of cooked bacon can be frozen to eat later.

The dog may not get off all the grease. Accordingly, this method is not recommended if the bags will be kept nearby while camping in a bear area because the bears will not have been trained to growl when they feel a leak.
