Got a chance to try out a 62" (in my OC-1) Galasport paddle on the Gatineau over the long weekend. Right away I noticed several things:
1. I want one.
2. The paddle I've been using is WAY too short.
3. My current blade is way too big.
4. There was a ton of flex in the shaft of the Galasport.
5. I really, really want one.
I know the make, but I can't figure out the model. I'm having trouble deciphering the various layups? that Galasport talks about on their website.

Could someone who uses a Galasport paddle, or is familiar with them explain to me what the heck "JRS" is? Which material will make a stronger shaft- JRS & 30% Carbon/Aramid, or JRS & 70% Carbon? Which will be stiffer? Lighter?
Since I've been using a heavy, stiff paddle with an enormous blade (Illiad), I figure I can get a relatively sturdy, middle-of-the-road stiffness, good-sized blade havin' paddle and it'll still feel like a lightweight racing paddle to me, albeit one with a fairly soft catch. AND my new paddle will have the added bonus of being the proper size. So which one will give me serious durability and still be lighter and better ballanced than I'm used to?
Thanks,
Kevin
