To All,
I have been slowly working my way through a complete restoration and rebuild of a Double Dutch Ultimo that my son will use for Slalom training and racing. I am nearly done with it and am at a crucial point that I need some ideas. The pedestal seat is all shaped up and ready to be installed into its final position. Two questions:
1. How should I set the trim?
2. What do I look for to make sure it is right before I glue it in?
I have the old markings and foam lines from the previous owner to guide me somewhat; however, they are just guides. One day I may spend some time writing out what it has taken to get this boat to this point.

Finding the sweet spot on any boat is an iterative process and very paddler-subjective. If there's enough material, I would glue your seat in at what I think is a too-far-back position. Then I would make a thick keyed-in back shim that I progressively thin unitil I'm happy. If the added piece isn't useable anymore, I'd make a new permanent piece that gets glued in.
