Carryin' da boat

For short carries, these short boats are a breeze; either put 'em on a shoulder or grab a side and carry it like a handbag.
What works for longer carries? Say, quarter mile walks to the put-in? Turtlebacks look really cool, but I don't have the spare change to buy one and have it shipped to the states.
