Mark Scriver brought one of the new boats to Palmer fest. The new seam looks way better than the old one, and it has apparently already been tested when a paddler pitoned into a canyon wall in the Laurentians a few weeks ago. Only has a big ding in the seam, but the weld is still solid. According to Mark the new formulation of the sheets allows them to be heated to a higher temperature before vaccum forming and subsequently welding which leadsto a better weld quality.
The only drawback of the new sheets is that they are white, which makes the boat really ugly IMHO.
I didn't really get to thoroughly test it yet, asthe white one was booked solid and Paul Mason's boats outitting (I briefly hopped into that boat) was too tight for me.
