I:3 conversion?

Post by JoshG »

Apart from a few times on a lake when I was a kid, I've never paddled a canoe, but I saw a guy in converted xxx spinning on the local wave faster than anything I've ever seen and it looks like fun. I have a couple of kayaks and am toying with the idea of converting my pyranha I:3 into a c1. Couple of questions, Has anyone out there paddled a converted I:3? Does it make a decent c1? I think I've got the basic idea about how to do the conversion, anyone have any tips specific to the I:3?
Thanks,
Josh.

It makes a very good C-1 in my opinion.
(depends a little bit on the size you have and your weight)
I found it very stable, forgiving but still nice to carve.
Great boat up to class 4 and for basic play.

Cheers, Jan
Is there something like an expert kayaker?

Thanks, I've got the 223, and weigh around 215, if that makes a difference.

i have a I3 223 C1 and it's great
i used a Bernie Farley outfitting kit
he owns Whitewater Warehouse on Dayton,Ohio
i have pics if you needs some
it works pretty good
depending on your setup and build you might need some hip pads
make sure you have a actual c1 sprayskirt, it makes a differnce
if you know someone looking for one, i have too many boats
