I have never been happy with the stock Slasher seat - it was never the right shape for my butt. So, I ripped it out, cut it apart, gave it a new spine (a la a fence rail conversion), and built a new minicell pedestal. I never glued it in, using friction and compression to fit it in place. The pedestal fits under the rear deck, sandwiching the rear wall and rail. I have not found it to move during use.
Here is the "fence rail" (actually 3" vinyl downspout) "conversion":

Recently I got a Viper and wasn't happy with the seat either - the shape was OK, it was just too low and wide. Rather that build a new pedestal, I thought I'd try to make use of the pedestal for my (Slasher since it already fit). I found that I needed to shorten the pedestal front to back for a comfortable fit in the smaller cockpit and the rear deck was about 1/2" lower. Also, the back of the seat tended to flex over the rear deck - so I cemented together a couple of layers of ABS and glued them as reinforcement to the back of the pedestal. I then took a block of minicell and contact cemented it in as a rail in the floor of the cockpit. It feels solid. I'll find out tomorrow if it stands up to paddling and stern squirts.
Here is the rail "key" :

Now I think I'm going to set this up for my Rockit and my open boat...
