Favorite Rivers (including images) post

Post by adamin »

As per another thread, I agree it's a GREAT idea to have us all post an image or two of us on our favorite river (or rivers). While it was originally mentioned for "international" rivers, I'd like to open it up to anyone - North America is certainly a diverse place geography wise, and it would be enlightening to see what different folks boat frequently. I must admit, however, that it's the international images I'm most excited to C 8) . I've seen some of the places NZMatt plans on boating :o , as well as the images Paolo and Jan post sometimes :o :o :o

Can you resize images in this post?

Me on the Ottawa getting munched in "Babyface"... sounds kind of sad to get munched in a place called babyface... but I guess compared to Phil's/Vampire/Coliseum on the Ottawa it really is small :-D

OK, I'll bite (desperate for paddling anyways.

1) Lens Creek. It's the pic that is in my profile here. What a great run. 5-6 hours of the most amazing canyon scenery imagineable. Clean water, Steelheads in the pools, huge old growth red cedars, bouldergardens, bed rock, everything. You must paddle this one if you ever get to the island. (by Joe Box)

2) Braden Creek. It's not a paddling shot but the lighting in teh canyon is fantastic in this shot (by Joe Box)

3) The Gordon. I have posted images of this run before and it is one of the best on the island. Clean drops, you can bomb it in 20 minutes but plan 2 hours if it's your first time or if you want to enjoy the scenery. Everything can be walked with the exception of the drop where the boater is in the hole.

Cheers, Jan

This pic is of Jawbone on Sect. IV of the Chattooga. The tandem team is in the middle of the rapid, beside Decap Rock.

I don't want to change the topic but how do you put a photo here? I have a Mac and usually I can drag my photo where I want it but it won't go here.

Li'l D,

The pics are located on other Websites and added by using the Img button above, adding the hyperlink and pushing the Img button again.

I don't understand. I don't have a web site. The photo is in my iphoto album which I drag to my desktop. Can't I just put it here somehow?

Hi Bathtuboy,

Great pictures! What is the name of the river in Kent? I didn't know you had such rivers in the UK outside of Wales and Scotland and I sure wasn't aware of white water in Kent! Just apples :)
Cheers

Well, it still looks nice, even if it is not in Kent.
Thanks
