I've come up with hundreds of greats, past greats, near greats and future greats, I will get off my dead butt and write up the list and throw it out here so if anyone know where or how to get in touch with them they can help, add in when you start thinkin about C-1'er also it is mind bolloggin just how many of us ther are and I only know those in the south east and mid atlantic but I'm gettin contacts from out west and the northeast I don't even know. We can make this a thing worth remembering if we just do it.

Never mind the greats.

What can you do to bring out the masses? How will you make it friendly to class II open boaters, and how will you lure some butt boaters into trying a c-boat?

Not that I could travel that far anyway, but I'd be intimidated and uninterested if I thought it was just going to be an ego-fest for "the greats" so they could be off on class IV+ creeks.

Not slag anyone mentioned, I know how committed many of the greats have been to instruction and promoting the sport.

I kinda figures the greats would be a draw not a hold back. You got to realize we have a very lose diffination of great , pretty much anyone who don't need a trainnin blade to get down the river fits. Also a lot of the greats are now class II & III boater now of days. I figured for every class IV & V trip we had we'd have two or three II & III. Another thing most or at least a lot of our runs are roadside and turn in to Class II & Class III the futher down the moutain you go or at least in the smokies the Pleatue is back assward and the easy stuff is on top. I figured we head to the gnar with everyone and let them look at it as they go up and then they could decided where they wanted to put on after they looked at it maybe even go back the next day and put on higher if they didn't have any problem day one. Please keep throwin out these ideal and views we might not aggree or act on them but don't mean we don't appreate hearin them. This is what this is all about is a sharein of ideal on how to get more people in to canoe and not let them go thru life sittin on there asses. If the trainnin blade remark offened anyone please get over it, hades fire if you can't make fun of pods what can you make fun of ?

Sounds like a plan. Just don't forget to invite the rookies and make them feel welcome. Wish I could go!

Just my opinion, but I thought Louie's invite sounded welcoming to the beginner/intermediate boater - the variety of runs (type and difficulty) , mention of rolling sessions, discussion of getting kids and other folks into canoeing, etc.

The original event that planted the seed for this web site and this forum was the '"C-1 Concordia" organized by Dave Miller and Scott Wilkinson. That included many of the "greats" of the C-boating world as well as many of us "normal" boaters (but not me - having a baby took precedence). By all accounts that was a pretty awesome event...
