Esprit does have open boats in Mexico. Mostly Outrages and Xs (8 boats), and a few Esquif's (Nitros?), including (2?) Blasts as tandems. Mike Yee outfitting.

Sounds like they mostly send open boaters along on the same fixed-schedule "Week of Rivers" trip as kayakers, so class IV etc. This Feb they do have one week that's all canoes.

cool, cuz that's pretty much what I'm used to :-?

- $1000 US for 6 days of paddling, room, and board.
- average high temps of 80F in Jan and Feb
- round trip air to Mexico City is just over $400 (from Detroit) $600 to Veracruz

Is there a down-side I'm not seeing (other than a semi-wussy itinerary)? Are there poisonous gorillas or something?

Seriously, has anybody ever paddled with Esprit before. Paddled around Xalapa, Mexico?

Most of the horror stories I've heard about paddling abroad with an outfitter involved crappy food/accomadations. I'll be hard to disapoint on that score cuz my expectations are petty low. I guess my biggest concern thus far would be getting stuck paddling a bunch of relatively lame class II/III rivers.

What else should I watch out for?

Thanks everybody for all the help.

Kevin

P.S. Did I mention that you're all invited?!!
