Nylon versus Vinyl air bags?

Post by boatbuster »

NOC has some Gaia nylon bags, urethane coated, that must be dipped in gold because they want $83 each for them. Then they have some they call a nylon/vinyl blend, PVC coated, for $53. I have one of the cheaper ones that has lasted a couple of years. They weight 9 onces more. I have had nothing but bad luck with air bags. Should I pay an extra 30 bucks for the more expensive ones? 8)

I've had as good luck with Mohawk nylon bags as anything else. My current set has seen a lot of abuse over the last 2 years and still going strong. They stay in the boat unless I'm driving more than 3 or 4 hours away. Don't know yet when they'll be available from Mohawk again. Prices used to be less than just about anybody.

New NRS bags are supposed to be bombproof.

Yes, the nylon cost more, but lifetime warranty is pretty darn sweet on an airbag.

In my experience the Voyageur/Harmony bags (vinyl or nylon) last much better than the Gaia, NOC, or NRS bags.

I got to agree, you get what you pay for......but I hate Voyageur cause I had their vinyl bags, ug they were worthless. I'm a HUGE fan of the NRS Bags: http://nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid ... eptid=1215

But a lifetime warranty is a pretty solid deal that you can't beat.....

I have voyageur, gaia and harmony bags that have held up great over the years. I bought a pair of the grey bags about three years ago to from NRS that were leaky and did not like them. Sold with the boat they went in ...

The Voyageur Nylon Ultralight bags seem great. They're holding up well, they fold up nice and small, and the best part is, they have that lifetime guarantee you can't beat. If they wear through, the company'll replace them.

Vinyl Sucks... Nylon is like a Blue-Ray-Disc.
