Yeah it's cold outside. An outrigger canoe paddling friend sent this to me. He and and his Hawaiian teamates are getting quite the chuckle.
I can totally sympathize with the Canadian paddler pictured here. Poor guy got his boat chanied to the tree for isometric paddling....

Negative temps, 10-15 mph winds. I am watching the fire.
Cold weather paddling...

Walden used to make a plastic outrigger canoe - I've got one and will get pictures of it up one day... Very fast, can keep up with a sea kayak if you work at it. Can be fun in swells, too, as you are fast enough to surf even long wavelength, low amplitude stuff (if that is correct terminology). I'd love to try one of those "real" composite ones!

Savage River makes a sweet solo outrigger. It's 24' long, 13.5" wide & can be built as light as 24lbs! It's amazing how fast it is The rudder makes easy work of turning a 24' long boat. You'll also be amazed by how quickly the ama will go over your head
The pictures on the web-site don't do the boat justice. Savage River makes some mighty fine race boats. The quality is first rate.
