Zephyr waistline

Post by ezwater »

Any Zephyr owners or others have an opinion about whether the Zephyr can be pulled in a little by shortening the thwarts? I don't need all that rocker and would like a little more cruising speed.

I would think that such a tough, heat-cured laminate could accept the chronic stress of being pulled in without problems occurring when it is struck on the chines.

Sure... but it's gunna be a bit more edgy when you change the flare. Are you certain you want to lose primary stability that much?

Try it... but test it with some scrap pieces of varying lengths.

I did that with a Viper 12, but so far have not been inspired to try it in the Zephyr - it seems plenty narrow enough (no problems with offside strokes) and yet zippy enough to get around.

I think you said you sometimes come over to the Columbia area. If you find yourself over this way, I'd be willing to perform an experiment.
