Hi, I will be paddling the N. Branch that weekend and was wondering where wveryone is camping. Could someone post a link to a map? Never been there so any help would be appreciated. Not sure if we will tackle the Loop on Friday. Probably will run the Slippery Rock then head over. Need a little warm up if you know what i mean?
Thanks in advance,
Ivan

Armada Camping
In past years we have camped along side the Savage river just up from the takeout of the North Branch. There are areas alongside the river up by Piedmont dam and the site of the '72 Olympic Trials, '89 Worlds and '92 Olympic trials site. The area's don't offer any amenities, but the price is right....free!
To get to the Savage, go to the confluence of the Savage and the North Branch, take the road across the Savage (you will see a brick building on your right (usually the gathering point for North Branch trips). Continue on this road and take the first right (this road is heading upstream on the Savage). This road will cross back over the Savage (now your on river left heading upstream) I'm not sure how many miles you go on that road maybe 5 or so and you will come to a wide place in the road, I'm sure you will see other cars parked around this area as The Savage is a trophy trout stream and there will no doubt be fishermen there. tere should be fire rings all around find a spot and enjoy...Hope this helps...DM
Look at guide books on The Savage, they probably do a better job than I describing the race site area and mileage from the main road.......DM
