There is definetley some rolling footage out there on youtube and maybe you could find it by sifting through this forum. I wouldn't try to copy the roll done in the video on the link posted here. Though the paddler did get the boat upright it isn't the best form for you to emulate, especially when trying to learn.

Also the Drill Time video has a short segment on the roll. Oh No! Boob Foote is in the video, some people may have a problem with that. Did I say Boob

Utube of Wade rolling Spanish Fly

Post by Wendy »

Wade has one of the most reliable and quick rolls I have ever seen. This is several minutes of him doing onside rolls in a Spanish Fly. His is a low brace roll where the paddle is flipped at the set up on the way over so that all he does is move his head out laterally with the paddle following, then hip snaps. Very smooth. Maybe this winter we will get Judy to edit and add set up closeup and audio.

Foote is an outstanding instructor. Some people just feel that he should also be warm and fuzzy.

"The Open Canoe Roll" by Bob Foote.

"The Open Canoe Roll" by Bob Foote has taught hundreds of us how to roll. You can get it on VHS or DVD from Milt Aitkins' eStore at http://www.whitewatervideo.com/. Go to the page of instructional videos, and look for the dopey "BF" logo (jeez, I wish he had hired a talented graphic designer!)
