Mark 5(?) slalom kayak?

Post by Space Canoe »

I have a chance to get one for $50.00. I know that this is a kayak hull but I thought that I could turn it into a C-1, but since I have 2 slalom C-1s already I would like it to be a fairly recent design. Is anyone familiar with this boat(I'm pretty sure that it was a Mark 5...Mark something,anyway)? And is there a lot of difference in the bottom besides being 10 centimeters narrower?
Thanks in advance,
RT.

Lettman Mark 5 Kayak

The Lettman Mark 5 Kayak was designed around 1972. It was the boat most of the team used in the 1972 Olympic Trials, some people probably used a Tony Prijon design. It was the last in the Mark series.

I can't imagine that this would make a very good C-1. my advse would be save your penny's and buy a new glass C-1. For not much more money you should be able to get a early bat series boat.

Davey has several in the backyard right now, if you can figure out how to get them across the country....DM

Thanks Dave;
That sounds like a good idea. I shouldn’t be spending any money right now anyway,
By Davey I’m assuming that you mean Hearn? How would I get in touch (just to check up, you understand…..)?
