C-1 conversion of Hoss and Method Air

Post by janderson »

My son and I are thinking of getting him a Hoss or a Z and converting it to C-1. I'm thinking of converting my old Method Air to a C-1. I'm a 55+ yr old OC-1 paddler. I boat the Lochsa at less than 8000 cfs and the Selway 2-4 ft. I'm 6' and weigh 150lbs.

My son is 6'3" and weighs 175 - 180 lbs. He's a beginner C-1er (is that a word) with some experience in OC-2, IKs, some kayak time.

I'm looking for opinions for these ideas. Have at it.

Thanks,
John

Yo!, John, first I think you need to eat a sandwich and start bulking up for winter, just kidding! I think the Hoss would be great for Thor(did I spell that right?) He wants a 'river runner' right? Plenty of volume, not super long, flat bottom (initial stability), soft chines(not round though)-forgiving, plenty of room, think it would be a good fit for him, as he's not getting any smaller I assume.
You're thiking of the Method Air for yourself?
I think you could have fun with it, maybe a little narrow, only affected by your height not your weight. I think you would sit pretty high in the water, so it shouldn't be super aggressive. Probably would be a great surf boat also. Not a lot different than my X if you want to try it sometime!?
Maybe we should paddle soon?
