sunburst as a tandem?
Any body have any experience with a Blue Hole sunburst as a tandem? How does it compare with a Dagger Caption? Much difference between the Sunburst and Sunburst 2? A found one set up as tandem but the people had not paddled it much.

They're still making the Sunburst II. It says in the ad that it can be outfitted as a tandem boat. It seems long enough to me, so depending upon where the seats are, a tandem set up seems quite possible. My first real whitewater was in a Sunburst 1 that a friend of mine would loan to me whenever I went on water too scary for my little fiberglass handbuilt boat. My recollection is that the boat's reputation then was as being pretty much the best all-around boat in existence at the time. The Mad River ME was better for Whitewater, but in terms of all-around versatility (flat/white water, solo/tandem, camping/play), it was the Mad River Explorer or the Sunburst. It was certainly better than my little boat and I was happy to be in it!
The only difference between the two models is that the Sunburst II has higher sides, as I recall. The hull below the water line was exactly the same, I think. But the best thing to do is getting contact with the company.
Hope this helps;

I have a sunburst 2 set up for tandem, quite a fun boat, though I haven`t paddled a caption so I can`t compare. The boat works well up to class 3-4 with two lighter paddlers, I`m 175lbs and have found the boat a ton of fun with another paddler who is lighter in the bow. Heavier paddlers the boat feels pretty loaded down and not as manoverable.
If it is just for running some class 2 to 3 (and up....) rapids with two paddlers not super heavy, I`d say go for it. But to try to put much gear in as well, that might be more than a handful.
