That is a really neat perspective! Watching it, i wished we could see more - you do miss the onside strokes and you look like the headless paddler - but, I guess it is because the camera is mounted so close to the center of the boat, it doesn't move as much so it *doesn't* have that seasickness inducing feel that some "headcam" footage does have.

I'm going to try a few different perspectives. I put the camera on the offside to get a better view to the front of the boat. It's almost to the end of a 13ft boat so it's not possible to move it any further back without making an extension platform (which I might try too).
That offside forward/skull/draw is what I described a few months ago to someone who wanted to move the boat to the offside while keeping the boat heading downstream (fast).
It's called a fosdraw. (I just made that up. )

I didn't realize it was all the way back - makes sense, though. If you could get a fish eye lens? A *great* instructional tool!
"Fosdraw" - I like it. Now I know what to call it when someone asks "what the heck are you doing?"...

The Helmet Hero Camera comes with a bunch of attachments, including a flat mounting plate. I simply duck-tape the plate down to the rear deck. It records up to 50 minutes of video on a 2Gb SD card.
There are a couple of variations too. Unfortunately, the main site
GoProCamera seems to be down right now.
