Crack welding Jackson 4fun

Post by Gail R »

A buddy of mine managed to put a crack in the hull of his Jackson 4Fun. He is a OC boater who dabbles in Kayak when his knees get sore
Does anyone know if they can be welded or how to fix?

Thanks for any suggestions!!!!!

Welding

Post by PAC »

IMHO everything can be welded. 8) If it holds is a different issue. :o
I suggest using the Search funtion on the site and look for topics related to Weld. There is a lot of info out there mostly mostly positive experiences. I have welded a number of boats and to date have yet to experience a weld failure.
Is the boat out of warranty - if not check with Jackson first. He might be surprised!

What model 4Fun is it? It is my understanding that the pre-2007 and new 'Classic' boats can succesfully hold a weld, but the new style Funs are made of crosslink plastic and very difficult to weld. I would call Jackson before I put a torch anywhere near a new style boat.
