Will Lyons racing K1?

Post by Alden »

So I get home from being away and missing the Great Falls (of the Potomac) Race -- and what do I see -- Will Lyons was racing Kayak!! He didn't even bring a C-1! He had to borrow one. He only brought a kayak!!

Will, what is going on here, buddy?

Where are your priorities??

I've got to check the event calender more often. Whilst the run of the falls was happening I was down at the feeder canal running gates in the new C2 solo.

Alden,
All I have to say is this...
Image
is a lot less awkward than this...

and a lot less painful than this...

Now, I know this may open me up to some harsh ridicule but I must say, kayaking is fun. Bam, I said it, there it is, out in the open.

PS, I got the potomac photos from http://www.potomacpaddlers.com/pf08gfr344.htm

Hey, I'm just experimenting. There is still something sweet about running Sunshine like this...

... that you just don't get from having that left blade .

Wow, so you're running the regular line on Sunshine these days? That's great. I must admit, I've been kayaking a little bit (with and without the paddle) on the Upper Yough this summer, myself. It is fun. Nothing like C-1ing, but it makes a familiar river more interesting.

Say it ain't so Alden. How many times are pictures in your book captioned c1 forever?

I have been thinking about hand paddling a bit...you know, just for demos and such.

Does anyone else find themselves hand paddling their c1 back up the eddy at the end of a long surf session?

What do kayaking and your buddy's girlfriend have in common?

They're both really fun until your buddy catches you.

I'll confess to having taken a few K1 Wavehopper runs this year.

When you live with the bastard and he starts kayaking it is easy to rip on him, but now I broke my canoe blade so I'm more than happy to use his while he is off impressing the boater dudes in his butt boat
