Wow, now that is something new...

Would be realy curious to try one out.

I am sure a good paddler can stand on that for pretty big waves and must be a lot of fun but as far as getting any speed/getting where you aim to go on the river I am not sure.

The design sure is cool... The step-on area with stoppers is a good idea. That thing must be such a challenge to drive!

I gotta admit that he made a strong sales pitch to c-1'ers with this whole paragraph:

Essentially, the board handled and paddled like a "short" C1 slalom boat. I reverted instantly to the same techniques that I used with a C1 slalom, and it was a joy to paddle. C1'ers will ahve an instant decided advantage, but pretty much any whitewater paddler will figure this out fast.

Just when our interest was "drifting" toward low-volume mystery c-1's, now we have a chance to hop on a board and do it standing!

That's what I thought of at first too but then I don't quite think that was what Eli was doing during the downriver national sprint!

But then he was using a full on open canoe while paddling that french broad!

I've seen Jeff S. stride Big Splat and other drops with ease

but never had the guts to go give it a try myself! I guess I'll let others give this toy a go before I do as well!

Now that's pretty slick.
I finally got around to making myself a SUP this fall as I'm close to Lake Michigan. It's fun paddling on our inland lake too...a good fun workout.
I too discovered that my canoeing strokes worked great on the board. I was thinking I would make a board for river use and seeing this makes me think I should.
I made my board with shallow double hollows and a slight vee in the stern. It looks like one can go quite radical with this concept for a riverboard. Might just be another winter project to throw in the mix
