You're supposed to hold it with the curve facing you

Al, I first want to say I'm glad yer alright after that nasty swim. Now, the next time PAC is YELLING at you to "GET OUT OF THE WATER!", just do it.

"hades's Bells" was a choice pick for background music. Cracked me up!

So, how ya REALLY doing?

Capture

Post by jim gross »

I wish the film had captured the initial flip. Sometimes these are hilarious, like a flip at the entrance to a rapid and a long bumpy azz ride down the whole pitch. Personally I have waited till the final move or hole to make my last epic part of my blunder. That lower portion of first island can be brutal.

Al's fine. He's ONE TOUGH DUDE! I once saw him break a paddle shaft over his nose just because. :o

Ooooh! That looked painful :(

Mick I'd say his butt is as tough as his nose cause it must have taken a few licks on that swim.

Looks like a fairly meaty level.

What was it, around 6'?

I really miss that river. S'bin years. If I ever get to do it again I'll hope to catch it around 5.0' to 5.6'.

Stubborn arse open boaters.. "Need a hand?" "Nope, I ,uh,ow!got ugh, glub, it..ooh, ow, ugh,..."
One good reason to open boat, you can get out and away from it, unless of course you are stubborn enough to swim with it.
Glad your ok.

Big Al is out of the country - over the pond on business I believe - so he can't step in with musings or action defense.

For my part I thought he was going to walk at first (I was thinking about it based on the level and a long ago and not forgotten personal experience :x ) but after Martin ran it clean I guess Al just had to be Big Al!

Martin had just run it and as I turned around Al was hitting the first drop (hence the camera was not ready for him). He went deep (big dude + little boat = getting sucked out) - face shot deep and hung in there until the river pushed the ejector button. Its not often you get to see a mush move by an open boater. :o

Unfortunately the video starts at the only place he could have actually stepped out of the mayhem. But Big Al being himself decided to hang out and do the whole monty! I'm actually surprised he was not waving for the crowd / camera as he boogied on through. He has a history of that!

No harm, no foul and he even shared excellent brew with us as we chuckled over the video at the take out. One of the reasons I like paddling with the boy! 8)

Oh and the level was roughly 5'5" - one of the uglier levels to swim that one at. No it was not a LF run but a bit more water would have been appreciated! Paul C.
