I posted a post somewhat like this one a couple weeks ago but since I didn't get any answers

...REPOST!

So the question is:
Would a Dagger Ego make a good C1 conversion for a 5 ft 5 inch and 130lbs guy?

if it's cheap enough or free... i'd say go for it

but... being around 23" wide and having a fairly slicy stern will certainly make it interesting for ya'

personally... i feel a super ego would be a better choice

I paddled a ego c-1 at 185 and it was "interesting". Fun in a hole, but pretty tricky to get around. At 130 it certainly would be far more manageable. If its cheap, go for it, otherwise there are better options.

What do you mean it's tricky to get around?..like to flip?

A 23" wide boat is really a little too narrow for a C1 for a "comfortably stable" experience. Trust me. I designed a 22" wide Cquirt:) With you knees all the way out you can get dialed in (boat was designed so you can get your knees all the way out).

I do not know if you can with the ego (knees out), and if you can't, it will be like sitting on a vertical 2x6....

I had a Whiplash at about 24" and that is as narrow as I would ever go, though preferably never below 25" again...

I paddled an Ego conversion for a while and it was awesome. Balanced for cartwheels and whatnot. The one I paddled was actually squished, so it was super slicey. Go for it, it'll teach you the basics and make you a better paddler.

If it's an additional boat to play on easier rivers it will really help your paddle Zen! You really have to be able to get down in it as much as possible for knee spread and it might not be something for big water unless you really are willing to step it up!
But definitely do-able!
