A complainant reported that a man he picked up while canoeing on the Stillwater River put a gun to his head and stole his canoe.
He also said he was hit in the head with a paddle and had to walk 45 minutes to find help.
Deputies talked to the complainant’s two friends, who accompanied him. They also spoke to his wife because she had dropped the trio off for the canoe trip.
His friends said he became upset when his canoe overturned and insisted they continue without him.
The complainant reported that he drank about five beers in one hour before making the report. Deputies determined he didn’t really know what happened because he was so drunk.
“Everyone involved hugged and decided to resolve the matter by leaving together,” deputies wrote in their report.
