Ah, I think Nascar and that kinda raftin go right the 'gither. Startn out a weekend of goin' to see some weakazz drivers by goin' raftin on a weakazz fake crik.
Why are "guides" even needed on that run? The boat flips and you walk to shore pullin raft an assorted dingle berries? Completely Nascar.

I'm not going to argue about the "fake" aspect, but the "competition" channel is *not* the Nantahala.

Geez man, chill out a bit... Granted, it is LOW consequence (hence the walking to shore)... but I've commercially guided Class IV-V (Chattooga, Cheoah) and will say that the Competition channel has holes as big and sticky as any you will find in the southeast... oh, and the "dingleberries" were from upstate NY, which, needless to say, is your neck of the woods, so I had NO problem dumping them... bring that longboat down here and drop into the same hole, we'll see whether you walk to shore, or start yelling for a rope from one of those "weakazz" guides

Hey, no probs w/ the "guides" bozz, easy money...right. Just the peeps there, an those fakie runs are barely one rung above amusment park.
It would be nice if people sought out a bit more wilderness experience.
Plus, the longboat would be boring there, I could fill up right at the begining and wash around submerged w/ nothin to hit. I guess I could bring my rubber ducky and bubble bath to make things inneresting.

I agree with you on the need for people to seek out a more wilderness experience. Consider this, perhaps the USNWC might be a good place for people otherwise uninformed about whitewater (i.e. most nascar fans) to get in a boat and get introduced to whitewater, have a good time, then encourage them to go on a "natural" river on their next vacation. Every trip I guide I'm always recommending rivers and outfitters that fit their experience/interest levels. ------- Now with regard to the "rubber ducky and bubble bath"... if you think there's nothing to hit whilst you are swimming the drops, just remember, those big rocks were put there 4 years ago, they haven't had 100 Million years to get nice and smooth like the boulders on the Lehigh river ... nope, these rocks and concrete banks leave some pretty sweet road rash, ... which might sting when you lather up that bubble bath...

once again...you're welcome to come down any time, they drain it every night, so if you're too scared to run it in a canoe, you can skate around to find your line ... i'll make a deal with you, instead of wasting time talking trash on the internet, you come down, and i'll personally pay your one-day canoe pass and film while you run the competition channel, then we'll post it here and let everybody decide how "weakazz" this "crik" is ... if you run it clean, i'll buy you a steak dinner (do they eat steak up north?... well, i guess i could buy you sushi or whatever skateboarders eat) .... but i'm guessing it'll go something like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRwn2nG1 ... re=related .... i'll bring a first aid kit, just in case

Take it easy on longboater, that is kinda my bowl of rice, to call him out on every post where he talks trash in. I don't think he will come south, heck I went up north and I couldn't find him.
