Just found this on a dagger blog and is about the multi-mentioned "Rio de Oro" in the southern part of the state of Veracruz in the area known as "Los Tuxtlas". Louie seems to be the cboat expert on the area and might want to add a bit more information.
enjoy,

This is not about C boats but about Mexico

This is the video PLG and I made. Cleanest river we ran in Mexico I drank out of the river. Started eight miles up the side of a Volcanoe and took out in the Gulfo de Mexico.

This is a mesage board by the guy who wrote the Gringos guide to Mexico. They hadn't run it till a few weeks ago after I post on their board about it, he has some good pictures from other river in Mexico and may have some up now of the River of Gold. A few years ago he wasn't very single stick friendly but I think I broke him of that bad habit.
Too much to type here but if you more 411 call me at 803 319 1719and I will tell you what I know . Was there an attachment you ment to put with your post?

Thanks Louie.
And another couple of hours to the Tuxtlas with great beaches and clean water. I like to call it paradise. It has +- 36% of the countries water, the highest mountains, 700 km of coast line, friendly people, strong economy, what am I missing?Louie wrote:one other thing while I know there is good whitewater all over Mexico. I think the Veracruz area might have the most disversified type of rivers. When you have the Alseasan and the Antigua with in an hour of each other you have a wide range of river types awfull close to each other.
P.S. I did miss the link to dagger. I'll try again

Ya that is all true but don't just do the part that starts at the 50 footer. Get Fernando to get his brother to bring a couple of horses and have him take you futher up the Volcanoe. No drops bigger than 8 or 10 foot but well worth the horse ride and when you get up to the top the volcano the view is fantastic. PLG and I had trouble gettin ahold of Tom McEwan so PLG, me, and wife's cousin ended up lookin for the Rio de Oro for two different weekends and found two rivers that turned out to be first D's. We didn't even know they hadn't been run till Rocky and Tom confirm that we were first. It is truely paradice, cheap, and the people love us. They must not know how their kin folk get treated up here.
San Andras Tuxla is nice but if you stay in Santiago Tuxla there is a whitewater run that goes right through town with a thirty five footer and you will feel like a rock star, wear sunglasses the camera flashes will blind you. However that run has been done twice so far but I bet there are still a lot of people who haven't seen anyone run the rio
.

From Santiago Tuxla goin to the Rio de Oro you will be near this one

Louie, you are a wealth of information about Mexico.
Man, the next time you come to México, I would really like to get together with you. Iǘe lived in Coatepec, Veracruz for the last 8 years and lived in the Port and city of Veracruz for the previous 30. I've been here for the last 38 years and love it. You don't have to do too much math to see that I am an old fart but can still do most of the easy stuff. I want to get down to the Tuxtlas and run all of the ones that have sent links to. I will use any excuse to go there. It is one of my favorite places in the world. My wife's family is from San Andrez.
Thanks again for sharing your wealth of information with us.
Have a great Christmas and a successful 2010.
