I don't know about Santa,
but AdkSara got me a Rough Stuff Savage C1 paddle
Yes, I did try it out yesterday on the Hudson (which is up A LOT...if we'd only had this level for the Fall Armada!!!)
It's lighter than my old Schlegel, and slices through the water very well, and has good catch. It'll take a bit more testing to figure out if it is my new favorite paddle or not (I really like the feel of the wood mitchells, but want a lighter paddle). If it holds up HALF as well as it's supposed to it will be well worth the investment (Rough Stuff's website (link from the home page of course!) as them chopping wood with a paddle, and driving over it....)
Happy Holidays to all,
"Sir" Adam

Santa was good to me
Santa brought me 2 new sets of Pro-Plugs (he knows that I tend to loose the little stuff), rodeo socks (so I can keep my feet warm & dry & still get out of the Viper) & a way cool CD/DVD changer (My DVD copy of Metal Flakes is on the way).
The dams have been back in 'flood control' mode, so the good eddyline is back. I went out Christmas eve & did about a kazillion stern squirts in the Viper.
If the level on the Appomattox holds, we'll paddle up there Monday...unless someone wants to lead us down the James If someone were to guide us down the James, they could try my Viper Just a thought.
I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas & has a happy & safe new year. I can't wait for the next armada!

Well, Mike
Shame on you wicked, wicked man, Mike ! My wife is sitting here in the room with me and you have the audacity to invite me to paddle with you on Monday and to throw in your Viper as bait since I haven't got mine makes your offer just too hard to ignore ! Call me tomorrow (804) 405-3767. I have chimney guys checking out my fireplace and flue, but I can (and will) get away in the afternoon to paddle the James. Come on up!
KNeal
P.S. You are a wicked, wicked man

You snooze, you loose
Hey KNeal & anyone else, we're doing the Appomattox. We're leaving Roanoke Rapids at 09:30. That should put us at the take out around 11:00. At the level that it's going to be (4') I'm paddling plastic. Meet us there.
