QR thigh strap anchor
I prototyped a quick release thigh strap anchor yesterday - it's based on a "pin an ring" (not unlike the Brown Pack System straps). I tested it with a single set of straps but think it would support a double. I'm using a piece of tubing for the "pin" but think something stiffer (perhaps an insert) is in order because it collapsed when tested under load (but still came out).

I think I'm going to try to work it into an upcoming conversion...

I like it! They make quick release buckles for surfboard leashes:

Yep I've been using one of these for a few months now (Since my airplane seatbelts failed) and it seems to work pretty good!eddyhops wrote:http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&s ... =0&ndsp=20

Pix of your install? I've looked at those before, too. My ideal solution would accomodate a double strap set up and let all go at once. Haven't tested mine with a double yet.Mission wrote:Yep I've been using one of these for a few months now (Since my airplane seatbelts failed) and it seems to work pretty good!eddyhops wrote:http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&s ... =0&ndsp=20

It turns out it was a chinese copy of an Amsafe buckle NOT a genuine Amsafe which probably didn't help.
The little spring in the middle corroded away on one, meaning it wouldnt properly open or close.
On the other one(the real worrying failure) the lever part somehow corroded and then bent out of shape so it was no longer engaging with the little bit in the middle, the belt would close but would not open once closed!
It's not as if they were not looked after, they were regularly washed and greased up so it wasnt just negligence on my part unfortunately.

This could be a solution soon to be implimented in my new creekboat, as I quite fancy having a 1-Pull release.Mission wrote:Yea ill post it up in the morning once i get to my boat.
It's a single snap shackle, the straps have 2 stainless D-rings and they both just go into the same snap shackle, which is connected to the cockpit rim by a length of para-cord.
In fact what would be ideal would be if I could route a secondary release cord to the rear of the cockpit to go with a rear deck release (as per the rasdex creeking decks*, and the modification I've made to my IR SuperBungee)
