Palmer Fest/Canadian Canoe Symposium, no more

Post by scottmacgregor »

Good Morning,

I need to share some bad news. Rapid Media is no longer going to be producing Palmer Fest and consequently the Canadian Canoe Symposium.

After five amazing years we're shutting it down. It was not an easy decision, in fact it was the most difficult business decision I've ever had to make.

I've written a letter explaining the reasons why not, if you're interested you can find it here, http://www.rapidmag.com/palmer-fest.html

Thanks to our host Paddler Co-op and all of you for making the events so great. Adam, thanks for your support on the site (and for coming) for the events.

Sincerely,

Scott

Nicely written Scott, and I completely understand.

We all owe Scott, his family, and the entire Rapid crew a HUGE Thank You for what they pulled off for 5 years. It was amazing, and undoubtably increased the number of paddlers out there.
Keep the C!

Scott,

That's too bad, but understandable. On the brightside, sopunds like something will continue on.

Hey, if makes you feel any better, Rapid played a role in getting a slalom race started out in Vancouver, see p. 3 of the provincial newsletter:

http://www.bccanoe.com/

Short version - Rapid said ww canoeing was going great guns in Canada because Ontario's Gull R. race was popular, which I took issue with, being in lonely BC. End result, I started a race here, in large part because that article in Rapid got me thinking about it, and I was jealous of the events in Ontario.

Pat.
