The paddles do float quite well. The added size of the half core provides more than enough buoyancy to offset the loss of shaft diameter.
Sorry about the metric specs... : ) We will be adding both SAE and Metric once we have production models to measure.

I've cross posted this to UKRGB and they seem to be positively recieved...
I have two concerns, one is the effects of minor bends and dints in the shaft causing work hardening and metal fatigue over time, and the second is how cold the shafts would be in winter (Being canadian based, I'd assume you've already given that some thought though).
