havent paddled it since the "Modifications" ... paddled the Novelty item at ALF ... and it had the stability of a beach ball ... best thing in the boat (besides me) was the pump ... and did i mention i dont like the hip pads? ..

still it was an interesting learning experience ...

ok back to topic ... a tandem L'edge sounds interesting ... i have seen a tandem Encore ... would like to try a Tandem Viper 12

There is a Tandem Viper 12 in Vancouver BC, I forget what they said about it, could be fun, may need to add a half spray deck

Yeah, it looks like a frog now. I think there may be an opportunity to create a nice fish form with the LL'Ledge (long L'Edge).

Viper 12 x 2

Post by skooks »

I've got the Viper-12 Tandem. It was originally outfitted for 2 small adults, and it worked OK but was a bit wet. I have only ever used it with a kid paddling in the bow, and it is super fun. The saddles are as close together as possible, so I have to reach over top of the bow paddler to do a cross-bow. The boat stays dry and manouvers well. It really snaps into an eddy when both of your paddle blades are on the inside of the turn. No problem with stability but it is hard to find space to swing a bailer inside the boat. It would be nice to have a bilge pump for sure. I've managed some tandem rolls on flat water but in anything big I usually 'lose' the bow paddler and roll up solo, then the kid climbs back in. I've tried paddling this boat solo and it did not work at all.

In the classifieds section there are an H2Pro and a Genesis for sale - those are some solo hulls that might make good little tandem boats. The L'Edge? probably not so much.
