it was about 1800 cfs and I ran everything but the last half of golf course. It was fun but hard

Not in this lifetime, but as Gonzo points out if the Niagra Gorge can be navigated so could this. Niagra is badder.

I would have to say the Niagara Gorge is way harder than anything that I have ever looked at and even dream I might want to run.

richard, you are out of your freaking mind! you might as well plan on running the stikine in a canoe.

you think swimming on milner would just scare you? i bet it would drown the rest of us. course you seem to live through things most people won't so who know. if you're going, make sure to get some good video and life insurance!

i will (stakine) get done one day in a canoe not saying by me i hate the cold water. I hope one day the big water craze comes back around, I love creeking But creeking is the Jager bomb of boating quick and to the point, Big water is fine apple pie with a little lsd on the side

Nice Larry... I'm merely assuming there are various water levels on the Canyon section that make it more plausable for an OC run... right? Just based on the video there wasn't too much there that made me shiver in mah boots. The upside of an open boat... you can see the big hole that's going to eat you 3.8 seconds earlier than you can in a kayak if you are off your line.

I do think that simply translates to being scared 3.8 seconds longer since your boat will be full to the brim and on a course of mostly its own due to all the bracing.

possibly... but it provides you with an extra 2.4 seconds to leap from your boat and jump past the whole... ala Michael Phelps

eh... a swim looks pretty bad in any of this stuff. Not many 'nolans in his prime' left in the canoe world - ie... i just dont know someone ballsy enough that wud fire that up oc1...but its fun to talk about!

Way to go, Richard!!

I'm willing to bet that you're the only person to ever run the North Fork Payette from the top in an OC-1. People from Boise have told me that even Nolan didn't run it from the top. Bob Zazzera and I check it out several years ago and decided that it was way too much for us so we just paddled the lower five miles.
