Hi all,
I am just getting into C1 and have been boating in a regular 2010 Jackson AllStar for some time now, and am excited to buy a new playboat and do the C1 conversion.
I would love to hear all your recommendations on which boat makes for the best C1 playboat.
P.S. I do love the AllStar’s, but want to double check with everyone to see if this is a good choice for a C1
C1 Playboat recommendation

Welcome to cboats!
I've heard the allstar is an ok c1. The primary problem being that the plastic is so soft that it flexes, making it difficult to really feel connected to the boat. I think there is a difference between the Elite and standard constructions as well. The elite has more flex/seems thinner.

Just a couple pointers:
JK now has C1 outfitting available, though pretty new there isn't so many reviews around that so far but it might be easier to start from that then from an empty hull.
The ELITE plastic is so thin it flexes a lot but that's all good unless you have to drill holes in it for your outfit. If you plan on drilling holes you might like better their standard PE plastic.
I have a 4fun a friend o mine has a rockstar and basically their whole line of playboats seems to do just great C1s just decide if you want more riverplay or full freestyle. Keep in mind for riverplay you might like to have slightly bigger boat for C1 not really for just playboat.
Have fun canoeing!

Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom.
I use a Wavesport ProjectX 56 and love it. Has some width through the knees for decent primary stability(this is extremely relative, keep in mind...) and is a superb playboat, both for waves and holes. Previously I had an Orbit Fish which was also an outstanding C1 playboat, albeit without the loop-ability of the new ProjectX.
My ProjectX is a light lay-up and so has more flex than stock ones but that hasn't been an issue for me yet.
Outfitting is always a huge factor for C1 playboating and I'm constantly tweaking mine, be very curious to see how jacksons works out of the gate. Typically manufacturers have shied away from seat belts which are kind of a must-have for C1, IMO, be interesting how they deal with that particular obstacle.
In any case, I think C1 playboating is a great way to develop C-boat skills and has helped me a ton in my few short years on my knees, so bravo for taking it up! NOt sure where you're located but if it's in the NE or NY area I'd be happy to let you try my ProjectX if the fit is right. Probably be at Golly with it as well.

Hi all,
Thank you for the responses. Helps a ton to get me off in a good direction.
I just called Jackson Kayak to see how much the already C1 converted boats will cost.
They are in the 2-3 stage of prototyping the outfitting and will be announcing for sale in Nov/Dec.
I will go ahead and wait and see if I can get my hands on a demo for a spin.
Thanks a bunch...
