The following are a couple of links to a near-death swim on Kicking Horse (I'm not familiar w/ it). It was a kayaker, but it's a really good reminder of what can happen when things go wrong and what to do/not to do when trying to rescue. Both the swimmer and the rescuers all contributed to this thread.
Thankfully the swimmer lived, but a class 4 swim for nearly a kilimeter is definitely something that you'd not want to experience.
