Scott Broam and Adam and Kalin, you have got to be the handsomest, most intelligent and charming macho-men in this entire galaxy. And the best paddlers, too; that is a No-Brainer!! Why, if ever Niagara is conquered, I’m convinced that it will be by one of you !! No seriously you guys RAWK!!!!!
So anyway, not that this has anything remotely to do with the previous paragraph, But do you guys have the Olympic coverage? I stayed up last night to watch for Rebecca Giddens, and got about 1.3 of the 1.5 hour coverage devoted to a single beach volleyball match. Not even a finals or semi-finals match. Of course there were Americans in it, but there was an American in the Whitewater final as well, you T V Twits-on-a-stick!!!!! I didn’t get to see any of Rebecca Giddens at all. I know her marginally; we paddle on the same course out here in La La Land . That’s right, Craig, she’s been here for YEARS; you CheeseHeads have got to let go……………. She’s really nice; it would have been nice to see her.

I've got Rebecca Giddens' run on tape
I've got Rebecca Giddens' run on tape but is it legal to distribute the footage to other people? I believe that it's legal to copy the footage for my own personal use but is it legal to pass it out to other people. I would hate to be the subject of a law suit just for sending out a few CDs at no profit. Any lawyer types out there that knows the answer?

In this day and age it probably is a crime - college kids have been fined for swapping MP3s... And since it probably is a crime, I think I'd only risk it if you also had the C-1 and C-2 footage 
The odds of being prosecuted would probably be low, though. As are the odds of there being a legal, reasonably priced way of buying the same footage...
I wonder what the statute of limitations is on this, think I'm safe now for those tapes of the 89 Worlds I distributed?

Olympic coverage
It is a shame that with all the raw tape they must have they can't arrange for the governing bodies of the Ol;ympic sports to have the possibility of putting together a DVD of wall-to-wall single sport coverage.
I noticed they were trying to get folks to made advance reservations for a gymnastics DVD. Arrrgh! With all respect to the athletes, I just got completely OD'ed on gymnastics.
My theory is they only want to show sports with lots of skin. Boaters don't make it...

I have been living in Los Angeles for FAR too long; I am getting way too good at spreading the Butter-up!!!! And let me say in all honesty, Bob, Bob-erino, the Bob-enator, now that I know that you have access to what I want, that all of the aforementioned paddlers are mere fools and reprobates when compared to the awesome shining light that is reverently spoken of in hushed terms as “The Bob-ness”!

As to Jim, I wouldn’t worry about it if it were me.
Here’s the scoop from a fairly knowledgeable friend of mine. This person is an entertainment lawyer who deals with money matters in movie/TV/music, and a kakayer, so maybe that’s TWO reasons why we shouldn’t trust them, but I do and here’s the short, sweet, simplified version (not that short and sweet!):
When the Sony Betamax case was resolved, the courts ruled that you could not copy and sell tapes for profit, but you could copy footage for home use. Napster was stopped because you got your downloads by logging onto Napster itself. Grokster was not stopped because it merely provided you with a link to other people on the internet who had what you wanted to download, and then supplied you with a program to download arguably anything, legal or not...
All of the suits filed so far have been by the record companies, who have been screwing the public (not to mention the artists under contract to them) for YEARS, and now are whining because they are getting screwed in return (I’m a musician and so I have been up close and personal with this dilemma for years, and while I find stealing songs reprehensible, I want to light my skin on fire for taking the side of the record companies on ANYTHING).
As for TV, never in legal history has a TV station won a case against any private person who was duping copies for friends and not for profit; in point of fact, to my and my friend’s knowledge, never has a case even been FILED. This footage has been beamed out for FREE; why would they want to endanger an already shrinking viewer base? This is America, and even if there is a law, if that law is idiotic then most people tend to ignore it. If you’re really nervous, then say that you are loaning a personal copy to a friend, and what they do with it is none of your concern. And while I’m at it, I’m not afraid to go into international law, does anybody have CBC footage? I’m willing to bet that it knocks the socks off the U.S. anyway…
