video of Athen's Olympic whitewater course

I found this site from Boatertalk (gotta give credit where credit is due, even though it was from there  ). I thought this video of the slalom course is pretty awesome. Lots of bytes to download, so if you use dial-up (like me), it'll take a while. Worth it, though.

That course makes Augsburg look positively natural. I hate artificial courses, and that one looks particularly bad. They didn't even make the "rocks" rounded!

Now, paddling skill (at least in the top 5 competitors) is secondary to dumb luck.

Pardon the rant... :x

NPR carried a bit about the course yesterday - one paddler (Stuart Bowman?) was quoted saying that it is the "the best artificial site in the world if not the best river in the world for us". Might have been a little excited about being at the Olympics and on the radio? Or is it really that cool?

Also, not sure if anybody else try putting a "1" in that file name? There is a second video showing each "feature" with out water. Interesting...
