Maine Spring Boating

Post by TNbound »

Anyone out boating in Maine yet? I got a run on the Kenduskeag monday and will hit the Souadabscook and Marsh if the water comes up it a bit. All of these runs are primarily class III with maybe a IV or two thrown in that can be walked.

Anyone want to join in the fun? (Even kayakers!)

Everything up here is dried up. All we have now is the dam release stuff. Hit the west branch of the Penboscot today... in the snow.

At least a few releases should happen on the Kennebec and Dead.

Hopefully they don't cancel any more releases. I don't even like the Dead, but it sucks for the raft companies and everyone else.

The Kennebec is supposed to be super fun at low water (more so than normal levels, I'm told) with some good bouldery rapids and plenty of play opportunities. If anyone is interested in that at the end of this month, let me know!

Bigspencer07, have you ever paddled canada falls at 170 cfs? It is the kind of fish flow level it is at right now, but I'm wondering if it could be paddled. Normal levels are between 500 and 1000.

No I have no knowledge(too long ago) of Canada Falls makeup...especially @170
Agree with you on Kennebec...could be one of the 2012 saviors...
After picking up next boat I really wanted to look at the upper Sandy this spring... :x

Do you mean Sandy Stream? That is Maine creeking at its best. Here is a video I put together of it from last fall.
